This year, the 17th annual Puzzler MTB Race attracted over 400 participants from all over the U.S. and Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers said this year, they wanted to provide more opportunities for beginners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis whole year\u2026 we\u2019re going to focus on the beginner rides,\u201d said Fernanda Graton, one of the directors for the Borderland Mountain Bike Association (BMBA). \u201cAnd we saw the results this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Graton said it was a record-breaking year for beginner enrollment. Over the next few weeks I will talk about Track Intro Classes, our Lawson Craddock Youth Cycling League, training at Alkek, the Rider of the Year Competition, and the GHCF Race Team\/Club. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 Regional\/State Championships<\/p>\n<p>This year Alkek Velodrome will be hosting Regional Championships instead of State Championships. This is because other states nearby don\u2019t have velodromes so riders from them will be eligible to win too! Then we went to the cafe onsite at Van Horn RV Park for some coffee and breakfast. When we walked in our new friend Jack invited us to sit with him and he\u2019d buy us breakfast. Absolutely not we said<\/p>\n<p>We still chatted over a simple egg breakfast and talked with Dana our server. At the end of the meal, Dana wouldn\u2019t bring us our check insisting it was on the house. So we grabbed Jacks bill and paid that. Grateful to meet both of them.<\/p>\n<p>We hit Highway 90 at 11am with the wind coming from all directions. It was wide open views, a large shoulder, and very little traffic to Valentine.
