When you ride in the evening in the dark the noises seem to be less which means I could hear the sound of the knobby tires on the Motobecane 700HT MTB as I was out this evening. I am used to riding on semi-slick tires on my Raleigh M800 and they did not make much noise. Also the knobby tires have some squish when you make a turn as the tire twists. I have to adjust my steering technique a little to compensate. I also learned that the rear disc brake stops in a hurry when you grab the brake lever. This happened when I was coming off of the West Lake Houston Parkway bridge sidewalk and there were two lady joggers coming towards me. I thought they saw me but I still slowed down and then one of the ladies turned her head away and started to move into my pathway. That is when I grabbed the brake lever and the rear tire stopped with a chirp. I avoided the joggers and I don’t think they realized what happened.<\/p>\n

The weather was nice and warm at 76 degrees when I left on the ride. The skies were cloudy and the wind was 13 mph from the south. I can expect similar weather at least through Wednesday and maybe Thursday, but no riding on Thanksgiving Day. A strong cold front is expected on Friday.<\/p>\n
