NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) – A Nacogdoches citizen group is advocating for pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure and safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re trying to make a complete street for everyone, that\u2019s protecting everyone. Everyone can get where they\u2019re going the safest way possible,\u201d said organizer Grace Garrigan, organizer of Walkable Nacogdoches.<\/p>\n

Garrigan and her husband walk or ride their bikes to take their daughter to school every day.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe run into a lot of scary situations even though I would say we live in the most walkable parts of town,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Garrigan explained the group\u2019s mission is to help identify the need for sidewalks and cycling safety within the city. \u2026<\/p>\n

Groups to host bike tour of Austin Saturday<\/a><\/h2>\n

AUSTIN (KXAN) \u2013 Two Austin groups are inviting everyone to enjoy the best that the city of Austin has to offer as spring kicks off.<\/p>\n

The Downtown Austin Alliance and Ride Bikes Austin will host the 2024 Arts & Parks Tour on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n

The four-hour tour begins and ends at Republic Square.<\/p>\n

DAA said the first 100 people to register will get a 2024 Art & Parks hat and the first 200 to sign in on Saturday will get a free commemorative ride shirt.<\/p>\n

According to DAA, you can bike the full tour on your own or walk a similar tour. \u2026<\/p>\n

Registration opens for FMPD\u2019s Bike with the Blue<\/a><\/h2>\n

Registration for the Flower Mound Police Department\u2019s third annual Bike with the Blue event is now open, the town announced recently.<\/p>\n

Register before March 22 to get early bird registration rates. Bike with the Blue is a fundraiser event hosted by FMPD, Flower Mound Police Association and the FMCPAAA. The event on May 4 from 7 to 10:45 a.m. at Lakeside DFW will include a 5K run, five-mile civilian bicycle race, a youth \u201cBike with the Blue\u201d ride with sworn police cyclists from across DFW, and end with an eight-mile police bike race.<\/p>\n

This year, the town is adding in a Star Wars theme since the event is on May the 4th. Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite Star Wars character and compete in the costume contest.
