Bicyclist, 49, killed by hit-and-run driver in east Fort Worth; suspect arrested: police<\/a><\/h2>\n

A 49-year-old bicyclist who was killed in a hit-and-run accident early Saturday morning in east Fort Worth was a devoted husband and father who loved life, according to friends. Dan Frost was riding his bike in the area of East 1st Street and Beach Street when he was struck by a vehicle and died at the scene, police said. A 26-year-old man was later arrested in connection to the accident. \u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026 Police said that the driver who struck Frost left without rendering aid, but returned to the scene of the accident a couple of hours later. He told officers where to find his vehicle, and was arrested on a charge of collision causing death. The suspect, Rolando Cruz, was booked into the Fort Worth City Jail around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, according to police records.<\/p>\n

For the past nine years, cyclists across the country have been raising awareness on road equality.<\/p>\n

The Laredo Cycling Club is inviting avid cyclists and those who own a bicycle to the National Ride of Silence event taking place in north Laredo.<\/p>\n

The event aims to remember cyclists who have been injured or killed while pedaling on the road.<\/p>\n

The event will take place on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

The group will meet at the Taco Tote restaurant on McPherson in north Laredo.<\/p>\n

Cyclists interested in joining will need to bring their own bicycle, and safety gear is encouraged.<\/p>\n

The event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

AUSTIN (KXAN) \u2014 Tinkling bells echoed around Austin City Hall Wednesday evening, as roughly 70 cyclists gathered for the Ride of Silence. The annual event \u2014 launched in Dallas more than 20 years ago \u2014 is held around the world to memorialize cyclists killed in crashes.<\/p>\n

Among those in attendance Wednesday were the family members of Merry \u201cCookie\u201d Daye, killed in a hit-and-run crash off Cameron Road in December 2019. For Rashad Robertson, Daye\u2019s brother, he said she is the \u201cmissing piece\u201d her family is still grieving. \u2026\n\"\"\/<\/p>\n
