Winning the Race \u2013 Blindness can\u2019t stop Army Veteran<\/a><\/h2>\n

Three months after returning from his second deployment to Iraq, Army Veteran Henry Escobedo-Ramirez began having problems with his vision in late 2010.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy eyes were dry, and I had pain off and on,\u201d he said. \u201cI started having blurry vision and by mid-2011, I could no longer make out faces. It was pretty quick.\u201d<\/p>\n

Escobedo-Ramirez was diagnosed with Leber\u2019s Optic Neuropathy, a rare genetic disease with no cure. He went on to serve three more years in the Army and was medically discharged in 2014 with 12 years of service.<\/p>\n

Escobedo-Ramirez transferred his care to Houston VA and \u2026<\/p>\n

AUSTIN (KXAN) \u2014 New park space is set to come to the trail near Rainey Street this summer.<\/p>\n

The Trail Conservancy, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing and protecting Austin\u2019s trails, broke ground on the Rainey Street Trailhead in September. Brainstorming for the project began in 2019.\nRainey Street safety changes set to finish by this summer, where are we now?<\/p>\n

It sits at the end of Rainey Street between Cummings Street and East Avenue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is about a two-acre park, it used to be just mowed Bermuda,\u201d said Trail Conservancy executive projects director Charlotte Tonsor as she gave KXAN a tour of the space. \u2026<\/p>\n

Bike trail clean-up provides fun in North Richland Hills<\/a><\/h2>\n

A mountain bike trail clean-up session has been announced for a North Richland Hills recreational area, and residents are invited to assist in the clean-up efforts.<\/p>\n

The Fossil Creek Mountain Bike Trail Ride and Park Clean-Up will start in a few weeks. It will allow area mountain bike enthusiasts to clean up and maintain a staple of the local mountain biking community. Participants will get to meet and work with the park\u2019s staff for a fun morning of productivity.<\/p>\n

Guests should monitor the weather, as the cleaning session will be moved in the event of rain or storms. No experience is necessary, and the park staff will provide all the tools to \u2026<\/p>\n
