Houston\u2019s Alkek Velodrome replenishes bicycle fleet after robbery thanks to donations<\/a><\/h2>\n

After an April robbery depleted part of its bicycle fleet, Alkek Velodrome has been able to re-stock thanks to donations from the community.<\/p>\n

Alkek Velodrome program director Stuart Gardner said the Velodrome received five or six bikes through donations and another five bicycles from the Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome in Redmond, Washington.<\/p>\n

Gardner added the velodrome also received financial donations that allowed them to upgrade security at the track.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re in a good place again now,\u201d Gardner said. \u201cThe cost to us ended up being very minimal, and that includes improving the security and everything.\u201d \u2026<\/p>\n

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX\/KJTL) \u2014 Nearly a year removed from the accident that took their lives, Charlie and Lisa McBride were remembered by the cycling community of Wichita Falls.<\/p>\n

On June 1, 2023, the McBrides were riding together in Clay County when they were hit from behind by a pickup truck.<\/p>\n

Almost a year after the incident, the Wichita Falls cycling community came together to remember them and raise awareness for safer roadways between motorists and cyclists.<\/p>\n
