Cove House hosts annual Bike Tour fundraiser<\/a><\/h2>\n

COPPERAS COVE \u2014 Fifty riders met at First Baptist Church in Cove at dawn to compete Saturday in the Cove House Classic Bike Tour.<\/p>\n

Riders from distant parts of Texas joined the tour, including San Antonio, Austin, Waco, McGregor, and Mansfield.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe get people from all over Texas participating in this event,\u201d Cove House Marketing Director Joelle Carter said. \u201cIt\u2019s one of our biggest events of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anyone who\u2019s spent enough time in Houston has seen at least one ghost bike. The stark-white bicycles serve a grim reminder of the perils of Houston\u2019s car-centric infrastructure.<\/p>\n

James Midkiff was riding his bike on a cool evening in late 2023 when he was struck by a driver in a white sedan. They didn\u2019t stop to help, and the 36-year-old died from his injuries. No one was ever arrested for Midkiff\u2019s killing. Crimestoppers offered a paltry $5,000 for anyone with information regarding his killer\u2019s identity, but the money went unclaimed. \u2026<\/p>\n
