Austin is accepting donations to help replace bikes stolen from Camacho Activity Center<\/a><\/h2>\n

Ingrid Ristroph\u2019s kids knew how to ride a bike, but this summer they learned how to do it safely at the Lorraine \u201cGrandma\u201d Camacho Activity Center.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the things they learned that was powerful was how to bike and commute,\u201d Ristroph said. \u201cIn terms of bike safety, they [center staff] were very organized.\u201d<\/p>\n

Over the summer, Ristroph herself learned a thing or two about riding around Austin.<\/p>\n

But on Sunday, the bikes they used were among 16 stolen from the activity center in East Austin.<\/p>\n

The bikes were used in multiple cycling education programs for kids ages 8 to 12. The programs include seasonal camps where kids ride from the \u2026<\/p>\n

Registration for Hotter\u2019N Hell Hundred events hit about 8,000 by Thursday afternoon with late registration still coming in, David Coleman, a race director, said.<\/p>\n

This year, organizers are seeing a lot of entrants registering late, he said.<\/p>\n

With the city teeming with cyclists and others in town for the HHH this weekend, it\u2019s time to brush up on safety tips for motor vehicle drivers and for the thousands of cyclists who came from afar or right down the street. \u2026<\/p>\n

Williamson County Sheriff seeks clues in bicyclist\u2019s death near Andice<\/a><\/h2>\n

ANDICE, Texas \u2014 The Williamson County Sheriff\u2019s Office is seeking the public\u2019s help in the death of a bicyclist near Andice last week.<\/p>\n

Deputies responded on August 17 between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to the 11000 block of FM 2338 for an injured bicyclist on the side of the road.<\/p>\n

A 79-year-old man was taken to the hospital where he later died.<\/p>\n

Authorities are asking anyone who may have information on the cause of the bicycle crash or travelled in the area at the time of the crash, to contact the Williamson County Sheriff\u2019s Office at 512-943-1311.<\/p>\n

Rails to Trails: Effort underway to create a multi-county hiking, biking trail<\/a><\/h2>\n

FULSHEAR (Covering Katy News)\u2014Four cities and a county have joined forces to create a 31-mile hiking and biking trail that will run through three counties.<\/p>\n

When finished, the 1093 trail\u2014for FM 1093\u2014will run westward from Fulshear through Weston Lakes, both of which are in Fort Bend County. The trail will continue over the Brazos River and through Wallis, in southern Austin County. The trail will continue to Eagle Lake, in Colorado County.<\/p>\n

The vision is that the trail would be a high-quality, safe trail requiring minimal maintenance and can encourage economic development. There is no definite completion or opening date, as plans are still in the works. But the 1093 Rails-to-Trails Project has been underway since 2022, when the four cities and Austin County formed the 1093 Rails-to-Trials Local Government Corporation.<\/p>\n
