New Belgium\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Urban Assault Ride has evolved from a lifelong love affair for bikes and all things bike related. The first UAR was in Austin TX in June 2003. I have lived in this area most of my life, and until last month had never ridden either the Katy Trail or White Rock Lake. Warning \u0013 The Katy Trail is crowded, but for those of us who adhere to Amon Carter&#8217;s philosophy of traveling to Dallas only as absolutely necessary, it&#8217;s kind of like going to a foreign country to see the sights. NWCC sent seven Juniors to race at &#8220;Nats&#8221; and they sure &#8220;did us proud&#8221;! Our racers were: Kyle Sanders, Julia Winski, Christopher Winski, Peter Winski, David Winski, Garrison Horton and Victor Morandi. This was the first race of 3, signaling the beginning of the longest collegiate track season this summer. The Alkek Velodrome is a 333 meter, 8 to 33 degree banked concrete track that is completely maintained by volunteers under the Greater Houston Cycling Foundation.
