{"id":9531,"date":"2011-08-23T22:12:27","date_gmt":"2011-08-24T03:12:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.texbiker.net\/blog\/?p=9531"},"modified":"2011-08-23T22:12:27","modified_gmt":"2011-08-24T03:12:27","slug":"texas-time-trials-glen-rose-tx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.texbiker.net\/blog\/2011\/08\/23\/texas-time-trials-glen-rose-tx\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Time Trials &#8211; Glen Rose, TX"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TEXAS TIME TRIALS BRINGS BICYCLE RACING TO GLEN ROSE<br \/>\nSEPTEMBER 22-24, 2011<\/p>\n<p>GLEN ROSE, TEXAS \u00e2\u20ac\u201c More than 300 bicycle racers and volunteers from around the world, the United States and from around the block will again converge in Glen Rose for The Texas Time Trials September 22-24.\u00c2\u00a0 With the warm reception experienced during the 2009 and 2010 race series, officials from the City of Glen Rose and Tejas Sports Productions are both excited to see the event return a third year.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas Time Trials is a series of 5 races on a scenic and challenging 26.5 mile looped course starting and finishing at Glen Rose City Park (Rodeo Park).\u00c2\u00a0 With the dramatic finishes of all 5 races at 6:00pm Saturday, September 25 this is an event to be seen, not just read about. The location offers great facilities for racers and spectators alike.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We are excited to again have the Texas Time Trials in Glen Rose. The event is great for the local economy and it is inspiring to see these great athletes working so hard to qualify for the Race Across America.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Billy Huckaby, Glen Rose Convention &amp; Visitor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Bureau, Executive Director<\/p>\n<p>The race series showcases the Tejas 500, a 500-mile race beginning 6:00pm, Thursday, September 22.\u00c2\u00a0 This race is also a qualifier for the prestigious Race Across America (RAAM).\u00c2\u00a0 In addition, racers will also compete in the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Iron Butt\u00e2\u20ac\u009d 24-hour Time Trial, which challenges racers to complete as many loops as possible in the 24-hour time period.\u00c2\u00a0 Similarly, racers will also complete loops of the course in the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Tin Butt\u00e2\u20ac\u009d 12-hour Time Trial, the 6-hour Shoot-Out and the increasingly popular 26.5 Mile Sprint with racers completing one loop as fast as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Race officials stress that bicycle racing and riding is a sport for all skill levels and continue to encourage race entries.\u00c2\u00a0 To date, several Glen Rose residents have entered.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153TTTT is a great way to provide the entry-level racer\/rider with a competition of their own, while simultaneously providing a challenging course for the most experienced racers from around the country and around the world.\u00c2\u00a0 Our desire is to really reach the entry-level bicycle riders with a challenging and enjoyable experience that will entice them to ride more.\u00c2\u00a0 Every racer pushes their physical and mental skills for a sense of pride that only comes from the self accomplishment of achieving a lofty goal.\u00c2\u00a0 And the trophy is pretty sweet too, since every racer will receive the same trophy as the 500-mile racers for evidence of their accomplishment for years to come.<\/p>\n<p>This is an extremely eclectic race with world-class racers from France, Germany and more than half the states in the USA represented.\u00c2\u00a0 On the same course, at the same time, we also have many cyclists riding their first race ever.\u00c2\u00a0 It is incredible to see so many people from so far away travel to Glen Rose, Texas to ride their bikes.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Dan Driscoll, Race Coordinator<\/p>\n<p>The Texas Time Trials believes in being a good neighbor and as such continues to support charities, including Glen Rose\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s United Methodist Church Youth Group and LDL Educational Resources Foundation.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 The LDL foundation strives to provide funding for special educational needs for the district, as well as supporting health and environmental issues.<\/p>\n<p>All races conclude by 6:00pm Saturday, September 24 and will be followed by the Awards Ceremony held underneath the Park Pavillion.\u00c2\u00a0 Activities include a buffet dinner followed by awards presentations and family and friends are encouraged to join racers and volunteers as the celebration commences.<\/p>\n<p>Officials stress you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have to be a racer to be involved.\u00c2\u00a0 Volunteers are needed throughout the three days for all types for activities from checking in racers to cheering them on at street corners and turns.\u00c2\u00a0 No experience required, just a great attitude.<\/p>\n<p>For
