Today’s ride was on a different route from my other rides this week and with the approaching change in the weather (I will believe it when it is here) the wind was a strong 12 mph from the northeast. There may be a tropical disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico and Eric Berger (Houston Chronicle) was even brave enough to mention that a cool front (yes they still can happen) could arrive next week. Of course the definition of a “cool” front is a stretch but we can use the relief. The mostly cloudy skies held the temperature down somewhat during the ride with the range being 81 to 90 degrees. Even though I could feel a hint of coolness the sweat glands were working overtime. No other bikers crossed my path.<\/p>\n

My ride was 25.69 miles<\/strong> long at an average speed of 14.9 mph. While the average speed was a little lower than I wanted I did keep the average cadence at 80.2 RPM. This must been a result of the return portion of the ride when I had the 12 mph tailwind. I ran out of gas when I turned back north into the wind at the 20 mile mark and then moved into a residential area where is difficult to keep the speed up.<\/p>\n

So far September miles are at 55.25<\/strong> and year to date miles are 4112.05<\/strong>. Today was my last biking day until I get back from vacation.<\/p>\n
