Last evening some thunderstorms and a small amount of rain passed through some parts of southeast Texas including Kingwood. According to my rain gauge we got .08″ of rain which seems to be the only amount we can get when it does sprinkle. Along with this activity the temperature dropped into the high 60’s overnight so this morning it was 70 degrees at my home weather station when I left on my ride. When I finished it had climbed to 79 degrees. For a long time the numbers have been on the 79 degree temperature. I actually wore a long sleeve jersey although I could used a short sleeve one. The wind was a mild 7 mph from the WNW which is supposed to increase to 25 mph by this afternoon raising the threat of fires spreading rapidly. The clear skies were beautiful.<\/p>\n

The route was 24.65 miles<\/strong> long, a modified version of the one from Wednesday. The Garmin Edge 500 showed an average speed of 15.0 mph but SportTracks calculated a 14.9 mph average speed. My max speed was 24.7 mph aided by the nice WNW breeze. My earlier projection of hitting 180 miles for the month was good with September totaling 184.53<\/strong> and the year to date is now 4241.34 miles<\/strong>. The average cadence was 80.6 RPM. There were times when I was riding into the wind that the legs just would not spin any faster. Out of 30 days I rode 6 days due to my vacation. October will be more riding days.<\/p>\n
