It is almost summer and everything is growing so it is time for a bit of trail trimming! Let’s get it out of the way before it gets hot! Items on the agenda for Saturday include trimming the trails, and if we have enough people, putting some more armoring on the muddy section of trail near the Dairy Ashford bridge. Few things in this town are better than two-wheeled freedom in miraculous May weather. This month you can check out a variety of cycling events ranging from hard-nosed activism to bibulous fun.
Bike-To-Eat Week: In efforts to strengthen ties between local businesses and the cycling community, The Ghisallo Foundation is holding Bike-to-Eat week during the first week of May. Throughout the week, a 10 percent discount will be offered by participating restaurants to cyclists. You can find an interactive map with all the participating locations, City of Austin bicycle corrals, Austin B-Cycle Stations on their website.
Future of Austin Bicycling Summit: Two months ago two of Austin’s major bike advocacy groups merged and, on this first weekend of May, will be holding their first joint event. HPD: Child on bike killed by suspected drunken driver

An 8-year-old boy died after a suspected drunken driver hit him Sunday night as he was riding his bicycle across a street in southeast Houston.
The incident happened about 8:10 p.m. at 8100 block of Lenore near Bliss, according to the Houston Police Department.
