Maybe its just me but I was a little faster this morning on the Musashi.. two minutes faster to work.
But on the way to work I was down shifting to come to a stop and the bike made a grinding noise and jerked and almost knocked me out of the seat. I did a spot check and didn’t see anything wrong. NTC: 2014 National Track Calendar kicks off in Frisco

The five-race 2014 USA Cycling National Track Calendar (NTC) kicked off May 16-18 at the Matrix Track Cup p/b Richardson Bike Mart at the Superdome in Frisco, Texas. The three-day event crowned endurance event winners in the points race, scratch race and individual pursuit, the sprint winners in the match sprint and time trial, and eventually determined the first men’s and women’s NTC standings of the year.
ENDURANCE
Zack Allison (Fort Collins, Colo./Think Finance p/b Trek Bike Stores) took an early lead in the men’s endurance standings after winning the points race, individual pursuit, and finishing second in the scratch race. Allison has 42 points in the standings. Liam Donoghue (Boulder, Colo./Natural Grocers Cycling Team) won the scratch race, placed second in the individual pursuit and finished fourth in the points race, which gave him a total of 35 points and second in the standings. Stefan Rothe (Austin, Texas/ELBOWZ Racing) accumulated 28 points after finishing second in the points race and fourth in the scratch race and individual pursuit, while Zachary Carlson (Plano, Texas/Matrix-RBM) finished third in the individual pursuit and fifth in the points race, earning 16 ranking points. After my less than stellar attempt at a crit race last week, you’d think I’d work on my fitness some more before trying my hand again, right? Well, I did! All of 1 week’s worth!
I guess I’m just a glutton for punishment because when offered the opportunity to try another crit, I jumped at the chance.
Emboldened with some thoughts on what I would do differently the next time around, I was eager to give it another shot.
A few key things I was going to do differently this time.
1 – Better warm up
2 – Be more aggressive and confident
3 – Concentrate on cadence, more strength pedaling, less spinning
4 – Draft better, stick with the pack
5 – FINISH!
