Bike Ride to Roman Forest In The Sun But Cool Temperature
Today’s bike ride is the first road one of March. After two chilly days the temperature rose above 60 degrees but slowly. I started the bike ride at 12:27 PM riding my Lynskey R300 bike. Choosing a north route I headed off on the “New Caney – Roman Forest Blvd – Oakhurst” route. By the 2:56 PM finish I biked 32.06 miles. This is the first time riding this route in 2021 though I rode a similar one in January. My goal for March is 600 road miles and 75 miles in Zwift. With today’s miles I only need 568 more.
This coming Saturday I planned on riding the Baytown YMCA Gator Ride but their Facebook page says the ride is postponed until later in March or April.
I dressed warm today because the temperature was still in the low 60’s when I started. I wore shorts, leg warmers, long sleeve thermal jersey, windbreaker jacket, and a new pair of full finger gloves from RockBros.

The gloves kept my fingers warm but I should’ve bought the next larger size. I can wear them but the fingers could be a little longer. Weather conditions for the bike ride: start 63 (36% humidity, 36.1 dew point), a few clouds, wind calm; finish 66 (32% humidity, 35.6 dew point), a few clouds, wind W 5 mph. As you can see in the video the blue sky looked great after a couple of cloudy days. Wind wasn’t a problem though I did hit some places where the headwind tried to slow me down.
Riding the Lynskey R300 with the 90mm stem positions me better and I think my pedaling is stronger. With the 32mm tires the ride is different from my Canyon Endurace with 28mm tires. I aired the Lynskey tires to 82 psi while the Canyon is 90 psi. There are cobbles on Rock Creek just north of North Park Drive. The Lynskey rides over them and I usually can stay on a straight line through them but the Canyon bounces more making it hard to keep a straight line.
