Almost Summer Like, Piling On Some Miles, Pulled In A Local Legend
It felt like a summer day when I rolled my Lynskey R300 out the door to start today’s bike ride. Part of that was due to starting at 1:41 PM after getting home from church. Earlier in the morning it was cooler. I decided to ride my “Forest Cove – Oakhurst – Valley Ranch” route but I modified it when I came to Old Sorters Road. Instead of turning right I went left. When I approached the turn I looked in my rear view mirror and was surprised to see two cyclists coming to me. They passed me just before the intersection going to the right. (You can see them in the video). Even though I modified the route some I kept the same label. I rode the unmodified route last Sunday and this was the 6th time this year.; 4 times on my Lynskey R300 and 2 times on my Canyon Endurace.
Before the ride I stood at 221 miles for the week and with today’s 30.8 miles the week finished with 252.14 miles. Looking for the last time I biked more miles in a week I had to go all the way to the week April 20 to 26, 2020 when I biked 262.12 miles.

I am making great progress reaching my 800 mile goal for June with 203.49 miles after 6 days of biking. I need to average 26.67 miles per day and I am averaging 33.83 miles per day. This puts me 43 miles ahead of the 26.67 mile per day pace.
The bike ride weather summary today: start 86 (67% humidity, 73.7 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind 7 mph; finish 87 (67% humidity, 74.4 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind SE 8 mph. As I write this I hear thunder from an isolated rain pocket over my area. A little rain has fallen but it missed me while biking.
Strava awarded me the “Local Legend” for the “Old Heb Alley” segment from today’s route. Since I rearranged my routes I don’t ride this segment as much as I used to. Wonder how long I hold this title.
