Tube Troubles and Triumphs: A Cyclist’s Rainy Day Solution — 2 Comments

  1. Hello, Rick – interesting experience with the tube. I’m just about to crack 3K miles on my initial set of Conti GP5000 STRs on my still-new-to-me Canyon Aeroad. Have an identical replacement set (25mm F, 28MM R) waiting in the wings. Bought several TPU tubes recently, but not sure I’ll use them when installing new tires, think I’ll just keep for spares. Interested to know what you think of ride quality with TPUs; I’ve heard it’s a harsher ride.

  2. Thanks for your comment. Originally I bought TPU tubes to put in my seat bag because they are lighter and more compact than rubber tubes. After a couple of flats while riding I used the TPU tubes. Now I am using them in place of rubber tubes. Ride wise I can’t really tell a difference. The weight difference isn’t noticeable. They hold pressure about the same as rubber tubes. They look delicate but in use they are pretty rugged. I ordered 6 more with a 65mm stem. I only have rubber tubes for my gravel wheels. I ordered them from AliExpress.com and the brand is Ride-On.
