Critical Re-Entry Angle Mistake: Crash — 2 Comments

  1. Yikes, Rick! Hope that you didn’t hit your head! The slight dizziness could have been nothing more than simply the mild trauma of the “spin-out”. I’ve had that happen before: At an intersection, elected to enter & ride the sidewalk for just a bit to avoid heavy street traffic (something I rarely do), and from irrigation runoff the sloped ramp to enter the sidewalk had a heavy coat of algae – front tire went awry immediately, but a slo-motion “fall”. Didn’t hit my head, but enough to set off the Garmin incident alarm. No damage to the bike, or me for that matter.
Hope your dizziness subsided and you’re back to normal.
ONLY early rides for me here in Ft. Worth: did 43.5 yesterday and temps hit 104, same for today…I don’t do any cycling in temps like that unless early morning, just too brutal. Look forward to seeing your rides on Strava! Cheers, Brian

  2. I didn’t hit my head but maybe twisted my head as I went down. After walking my dizziness decreased enough to ride my bike back home. No damage to the bike since I was between it and the concrete. Years ago I had the same thing happen to me with a heavy coat of algae on a greenbelt trail. Like riding on ice. I agree with you on the heat. I should start earlier. The dizziness is better as I write this.
