About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Lighter for the Mountains – May 8th Bike Ride

Texbiker.net Posted on May 8, 2013 by Rick AnkrumFebruary 14, 2017

I forgot to mention the biker cap I am wearing in the video. I am not sure of the exact age but I attended the Beatrice Bicycle Classic criterium at the Astrodome in the 1980’s and they handed these out. The criterium circled the Astrodome under a bright hot sun. The elastic is shot but the fabric and print still shows up like the day I got it. See the biker cap picture in the slide show below. Does anyone remember the Beatrice Bicycle Classic?

During my hospital stay I lost some weight which means I don’t have to work quite so hard going up the mountains in the Houston area. All I have to do is find some mountains around Houston.
