July 11 – Last Day: Greenville to Dallas: Crossing the finish line, reaching for the goal
from Dean Greg Crawford’s Blog

However, for the first 20 miles or so the pavement was rougher than any we had experienced on the entire trip. There was no shoulder on the road, and Texas drivers seemed to be in a hurry that morning. Then… More

Heat and clear skies were ready for me when I got home from work. It was 95 at the start and 91 at the finish. Humidity continues to run below 50% which is very unusual for us. With this being a rest day for the Tour de France I was not rushing to get home and start the DVR so I was able to go for the maximum distance the daylight allowed. The sunset is coming down so I have to adjust my route to around 25 miles so today’s 24.88 miles was pretty close to that amount. My average speed of 14.7 mph was a little slower than I expected but given the 14 mph southeast wind I am not totally surprised. My maximum speed was 22.7 mph and average cadence was 78.6 RPM which partially explains the lower average speed.
July miles are now at 235.63 and year to date miles are 3074.71. Tomorrow will probably be a rest day from riding but I will be watching the Tour.
