Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Brief Description
The La Vernia Wild West HammerFest/Aptalis CF Cycle For Life® is a one-day bike tour that is fully supported with stocked rest stops every 10-12 miles, support and gear vehicles, on-site medical services, mechanical support, and more. Choose from three mileage options: 35 miles, 53 miles or 65 miles. Online registration will close on Monday, September 12. Day-of registration will cost $45.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is proud to announce that the beloved Hammer Fest bicycle ride has been saved from extinction and will now help raise funds to cure Cystic Fibrosis. By merging the La Vernia Wild West Hammer Fest and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Aptalis CF Cycle For Life®, you get a winning combination: proven bike routes, a family-style celebration, and the satisfaction of knowing you are making a huge difference for the 30,000 children and adults suffering from Cystic Fibrosis. In addition to the bike ride, there will be entertainment and post-event festivities for the entire family beginning at 10 a.m. Enjoy great food, festive music, children’s activities, vendor booths and much more while raising awareness about this life-threatening disease that affects the lungs and pancreas of area children like Bryce, a nine-month old CF patient who attends Little Bear Love Child Care Center in La Vernia when his health allows.

Event to raise funds for Angels of Love a non-for profit organization providing services for children victims of abuse and/or neglect

Schedule
6 a.m. Registration & Packet Pickup
7:30 a.m. 60 mile ride begins
7:45 a.m. 40 mile ride begins
8:00 a.m. 25 mile ride begins

NOTE: The course will close at 4 p.m. Emergency support and water stops will no longer be available after this time.

SAG & Rest Stops
Rest stops will be available along the route approximately every 10 to 15 miles to provide registered riders with water, fruit and other snacks. SAG vehicles will patrol the route to help with mechanical troubles. Be prepared to handle your own flat tires and minor problems. T-shirts for the first 150 registered riders. Lunch provided to all participants.

Brief Description
Come sweat with us in Granbury Texas on August 13th for the 3rd Annual Blazin’ Saddle 75 presented by Liberty Mutual. The routes are hilly and the hot weather presents a wonderful training opportunity for the Hotter than Hell 100. The event has three different approximate distances; 75 miles, 40 miles and 20 miles. We are excited to benefit Texas EMS for this event.

Don’t Wait… the fee for registration after July 23rd is 30.00

Hot Shower Anyone?
The Hood County YMCA has agreed to allow any participant of the Blazin’ Saddle 75 to use their showers. 833 Harbor Lakes Drive. Please bring your own towel.

Rolling hills, open roads, a rural backdrop, and Southern hospitality … youll find it all at the Red River Bike Rally! Affectionately dubbed by riders as “Hotter than Hotter ‘N’ Hell”, it’s the ideal preparation for one of the most exciting rides in the nation. Rider participation has tripled in the past two years because we offer such a fabulous experience!

Take your pick of four routes: 25 miles, 44 miles, 66 miles, and 100 miles. Each one offers a unique and challenging experience along with plenty of ride support and fully stocked rest stops. Apple Stadium at Austin College is the start and finish line; youll begin your ride in historic downtown Sherman, and within minutes youll find yourself in rural North Texas, focusing on the country roads and rolling hills. Best of all, 100% of your entry fee will support programs dedicated to serving the interests of local children.
