The North Texas Bicycle Rally (NTBR) is an annual fund raising event that supports local and national charity organizations. This year the NTBR has chosen St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as it’s beneficiary.
The NTBR event covers the rolling hills and off-the beaten paths in the of North Central Texas towns of Roanoke, Keller, Fort Worth, Haslet, Trophy Club, and Southlake. The Rally we will be providing COMMERATIVE T-SHIRTS, LIVE MUSIC and FREE FOOD for all NT Bicycle Rally Participants.
Routes – This year we will include 4 routes of 5, 15, 30 and 50 miles respectively.
The Family Ride of 5 miles is perfect for beginners, family and Children. The rest stop will be at the Roanoke Parks and Recreation complex on the west side of Hiway 377. (No Hills – flat smooth concrete. Pretty much downhill both ways).
The Novice Route of 15 miles is for beginner cyclists. This Route consists of rolling hills and smooth concrete roads and asphalt.
The Intermediate Route of 30 Miles is for Intermediate cyclists. The Intermediate Route consists of smooth concrete and asphalt roads with well protected shoulders, some rolling hills, and a challenging climb.
The Long Route of 50 miles is for the well conditioned cyclist. The Long Route has a mix of fast concrete and asphalt roads with well protected shoulders, rolling hills, and several challenging climbs.
After yesterday’s ride I was ready for a recovery ride. So no dog sprints and hopefully no strong headwind. Both of those came true today kinda. The wind was gusting to 21 mph but the steady breeze was 9 mph. I decided to not ride early today mainly because the humidity is too high for a comfortable ride. So I opted to begin at 11:30 as the temperature was getting close to the high for the day. 95 degrees, 44% humidity and mostly cloudy skies greeted me as I started. The tailwind was nice for the first 10 miles but slowed me down on the last 15. No other riders were out on my route. Today I wanted to get at least 25 miles and rode 25.22 to hit over 125 miles. Average speed was 14.5 mph which shows the wind slowed me down heading home. Average cadence was 76.2 rpm. This was definitely a recovery ride.
I have few days left in June but I am not sure what my ride schedule will be but I could get three days in. My mileage status as of today:
