About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Clear skies added to the enjoyment – June 8th Bike Ride

Texbiker.net Posted on June 8, 2011 by Rick AnkrumJune 8, 2011

The temperature moderated today so there was no record today. It was 92 when I left on my bike ride with a 17.3 mph southeast wind. Clear skies added to the enjoyment. My ride route is getting predictable but the miles are just right for the time I have before the sunset at 8:20PM. At the finish the temperature was down to a balmy 88 degrees and the wind had dropped to 13.8 mph. No other bikers were out this evening. Even though it was a little cooler hydration is important and I went through 2 bottles. Sun screen is important even in the late day sun.

Today’s miles are 28.69. The average speed dropped back to the usual 15.2 mph and a max speed of 21.9 mph. Average cadence was 81 rpm. June miles are now at 178.91 and the year to date miles are 2356.63.
