Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

All rides will be on 9/17/2011 and begin at 8:30 am at the Ollie Liner Center, 2000 S. Columbia Street, Plainview, Texas  79072. Rides will end at the same place.  Ride day registration will begin at 7:00 am at the Ollie Liner Center.
$25 per person registration if pre-registered.
$30 per person beginning at 7am on ride day.
$5 family discount for two or more from same household ($20 per rider if registered by 9/14/11).
$5 bike club discount if for two or more from same club ($20 per rider if registered by 9/14/11)
This ride will be in conjuction with the “Cowboy Days” Cattle Drive “Down Ol’ Broadway” and celebration in Plainview.  Many daylong events and booths for children and adults.

Hale on Wheels is a fully supported recreational bike ride for road bikes held in Plainview, Hale County, Texas, during the annual “Cowboy Days” celebration.  Routes are 21, 32, 48, and 62 miles, all on smooth, flat, lightly traveled or wide shoulder roads.  A free nutritious lunch is provided for riders.  There are drawings for pre-registered riders for $450.00 in cash and “rest stop raffles” for all riders for a total of $300.00 cash.

The Tour de Nowhere is a fund raiser for the Levelland Volunteer Fire Department and Cal Farley’s Girlstown, U.S.A. It is a great time of touring and racing that coincides with Levelland’s annual Early Settlers Days celebration. Tour routes include 17 miles, 30 miles and 40 miles plus a 78 mile race. Come and enjoy a well supported ride through the surrounding countryside and then, join in the festivities!

This years race will have a cash payout. It will be a winner take all in both the Mens & Womens categories. Plus the winners in each category will get to race for free next year as they try to defend their title. Merchandise such as t-shirts, jerseys, regular sweat shirts, hoodies and other items will be available.
