Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Peach Pedal Bike Ride – Weatherford, TX

Peach Pedal Bike Ride
Weatherford, TX
The Peach Pedal Bike Ride starts at Weatherford High School on Interstate 20 and Bethel Road.
100K start time: 7:30 a.m.
39-mile start: 7:45 a.m.
26-mile/9-mile start: 8:00 a.m.
Early registration fee (Received or registered online by June 30, 2010): $25
Regular registration fee (July 1 until ride day): $30

* Groups of 4 or more paid with one check (or one online registration) are $20 each, no matter when you register.
* Tandem or multi-person registration is $20 per rider, no matter when you register.
* No charge for children in strollers or bike trailers, but all children will wear helmets, no exceptions.

T-shirts and other items guaranteed to all participants.

Mailed registrations go to Weatherford Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 310, Weatherford, TX 76086.
Checks payable to “Peach Pedal.”

Baytown Family YMCA Gator Ride – Baytown, TX

The 22nd year of the Baytown Family YMCA Gator Ride has changed for the better! The Gator Ride is scheduled for Saturday, March 5, 2011.

Our ride site is located across the street from Bicentennial Park located at 119 Lee Drive. We have the 62 and 43 mile rides that go over the Fred Hartman Bridge, and the 51 and 33 mile rides which do not go over the bridge. We also have the Lisa Guy Memorial Family Ride for all ages which is 6.2 miles.  Please click on the tabs above and receive more information plus pictures from last year’s ride.

After your ride stay and enjoy activities and food in Bicentennial Park.

The event will begin and finish at Bicentennial Park located at 119 Lee Drive, Baytown, TX 77520.
All proceeds from the 2010 Baytown Family YMCA Gator Ride benefit the Baytown Family YMCA. YMCA programs help improve and enrich the lives of so many in our community. The Baytown Family YMCA is proud to bring people together for this event that helps develop the individual and, in turn, strengthens the community as a whole.

T-Shirt / Number Pick-Up Open
7:30 a.m.
62 mile ride starts
8:00 a.m.
33 & 51 mile ride starts
8:30 a.m.
43 mile ride starts
9:00 a.m.
6.2-mile family ride starts
11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Lunch served
Massages by Carey will be onhand after the ride to offer stretches & massages

12 Miles on a Challenging, Low Traffic Course (All Right Hand Turns) w/ traffic control

ALSO, Riders can race multiple categories at NO additional cost!!!  (i.e., age group as well as single speed, etc.)
Saturday March 12, 2011.  Riders will be started in waves by age/category. First rider starts at 9:01am.  All riders must be in the queue by 5 minutes before their start time.

Final start times will be published Friday, March 11.  Racers will be started on 30 second intervals.
