Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Online Registration Closes Thursday, September 02, 2010 at 11:00 PM ET
The 2010 Iron Haus Time Trial Series is a series of 8 races, taking place on the first or second  weekend of each month from March through October.  All entry fee schedules will be similar to the initial time trial posted.  The series points will be awarded based on participation and time posted. Adjustments will be applied to Juniors and Women times based on the daily men’s average.

Early registration is available at Britton’s Bicycle Shop (210.656.1655) during normal bike shop hours until 7:00 p.m.  September 3,   2010

Race morning registration is available beginnning at 7:30 a.m. in the Iron Haus entrance patio area.

The on-line registration will close at 11:30 pm on the Thursday evening before the race.

Conquer the Coast Ride – Corpus Christi, TX

7th Annual Conquer the Coast Ride
For those of you looking for a great ride but maybe with a change of scenery and location check out the 7th Annual Conquer the Coast Ride. The event is scheduled to take place Friday, September 24th and Saturday September 25th along the Corpus Christi shoreline. Riders will have the opportunity to take a ride along the Corpus Christi shoreline or ride the 65-mile course that takes you along the scenic views of the Coastal Bend and the chance to cycle with dolphins!

Schedule information
Both the 25 mile and 65 mile rides will Start/Finish at Whataburger Field located at 734 E. Port Ave. in Corpus Christi, Texas on Saturday, September 25, 2010.
* 65 mile ride starts at 7:30am*
* 25 mile ride starts at 8:00am
*the Toughest 18 Miles in Texas Time Trial will be held on Mustang & Padre Island, within the 65 mile ride
There are 3 levels of rides being offered again this year: a 25 mile cruise, a 65 mile ride with an option to add the “Toughest 18 Miles in Texas” Time Trial.

25 Mile Cruise: A quick cruise along Ocean Dr.; one of the most beautiful and prestigious boulevards in Texas.

65 Mile Ride: Encompasses the Corpus Christi Bay including:

* a beautiful sunrise climb over the Harbor Bridge, which is sure to take your breath away
* a route through the coastal communities and fishing villages of Portland, Ingleside, Aransas Pass, and Port Aransas;
* hop a ferry for a ride across the intercoastal canal featuring playful dolphins;
* travel across Padre Island, over the JFK Causeway and down Ocean Drive

The Toughest 18 Miles in Texas Time Trial is offered to participants who want to have an added challenge and will again be included within the 65 mile ride.  Beginning this year will be a time trial within the time trial, the “Donny Kloster Memorial Mile” -the last mile of the Toughest 18 Miles in Texas.
