Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

The Tour de Donut is a unique bicycle race where riders embark on an appetizing 28-mile journey with rest stops along the way serving as many delectable donuts as you can eat. For EACH tasty donut consumed, the rider is awarded a tempting 5-minute time credit. Eat enough delicious donuts, and you can finish the race before you even started!

Instead of this mouth-watering challenge, riders can ride the 55-mile route shape up for the BP MS 150. This is a BP MS 150 recommended ride!

Daily News Roundup July 22nd – Texas Bicycling

Riding this week has been throttled by almost constant rain. This has to be one of the wettest July’s in many years. Hopefully I can ride tomorrow evening. At least I got to watch stage 17 of the Tour de France in its entirety.  Andy and Alberto are awesome going up mountains.

Solo Men Open – 50% Cash Payout/40% deep (up to 10th place)
Solo Women Open – 50% Cash Payout/40% deep (up to 10th place)
Solo Men – 25% Cash Payout/40% deep (up to 10th place)
Solo Women – 25% Cash Payout/40% deep (up to 10th place)
Two person team Men – 25% Cash Payout/40% deep (up to 10th place)
Two person team Women – 25% Cash Payout/40% deep (up to 10th place)

¡SINGLE SPEED! – All solo participants that chose to race on single speed bicycles will be broken out into an additional group and be eligible for another 25% cash payout through 5th place.
Example: First placing solo women also races on a single speed, and amongst all single speed participants earns 3rd place, she would get the first place prize money for solo women as well as a 3rd place cash bonus for the singlespeed group.  Racers need to announce their intention to race in the additional Single Speed group when they pickup their number plate onsite.
