About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

July 23rd Bike Ride – I’m Back Baby!

Texbiker.net Posted on July 23, 2010 by Rick AnkrumJuly 23, 2010

The rain just thought it could keep from riding but I waited and I am back on the road this evening. With all of the rain I will be challenged to reach my goals for the month but I’m going to give it a go. Now Tropical Depression Bonnie is headed our way maybe. Tomorrow I plan on a 60+ mile ride to make up for the rain outs. With the construction FM1314 making progress I think I can go one of my old routes. I will see.

This evening’s ride was great. I almost forgot what is was like riding. (Laugh inserted here)

Today’s ride statistics:

  • miles = 26.01
  • riding time = 1:42:10
  • average pace = 3:56 min/mile
  • average speed = 15.3 mph
  • max speed = 20.9 mph
  • average cadence = 81.1 rpm
  • max cadence = 104 rpm
  • climb 211 ft., descend 167 ft. max elevation 108 ft.
  • July miles 356.31
  • YTD miles 2922.96
