Team San Angelo: A New Year Begins

The local cycling community, working with the San Angelo Bicycle Association and other organizations, helped organize multiple local events such as times trials, cycling tours, a regional mountain bike race, and group rides. $360,000 boost for grassroots bicycle racing in US

USA Cycling is doling out nearly $360,000 to support racing at grassroots level. The money, earned from the sale of race licenses, will go to its 34 Local Associations across America.

The largest payout, $36,105, goes to the Northern California/Nevada Cycling Association, followed by the Southern California/Nevada Cycling Association ($32,210), the New England Bicycle Racing Association ($30,520), the Texas Bicycle Racing Association ($23,225) and the Pennsylvania Cycling Association ($15,495). …

I would be very interested in hearing what routes people have done in Texas that are off pavement.  I have only done the Big Bend area, but have a modified version of that in mind and also one that I am looking at in Sam Houston National Forest.  Sucks that Texas has so little public land.  Definitely makes it a challenge to find long routes that justify a loaded bike trip. …
