About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Team San Angelo: A New Year Begins
by Bill Cullins
The local cycling community, working with the San Angelo Bicycle Association and other organizations, helped organize multiple local events such as times trials, cycling tours, a regional mountain bike race, and group rides. Many local cyclists also traveled to other locations to participate in races and tours. Cycling grew in popularity during 2009, with a good increase in entry level participants. More information is available at www.sanangelobicycle.com. …

Melissa: The eyes of Texas.. watching and waiting said: mech, I never saw it either. in ‘How do you keep a Lympian entertained for hours and hours?’. … I went for my traditional First of January bike ride yesterday. I do this regardless of the weather. Some times, I’ve collected bugs on the windshield; other times (like yesterday), the electric vest runs full time. Yesterday, according to Weather.Com, it was “47 degrees (feels like: 41). Winds from the NW 19 MPH gusting …

Bikes Guru » Travelogue Entry » Crossing the Texas Plains by Bicycle
by jennifer8163
Crossing Texas by bicycle is not an easy feat at all and certainly I am not suggesting that anyone try to cross from El Paso to Beaumont; that would indeed be a nightmare. As big as Texas is there are only a few really good routes to take which go fairly straight thru. And we need to start where it makes sense, so lets start in Hobbs, NM. You see Hobbs, NM is only 3 miles from the border…

Bike Geek: Reflecting on 2009

2009 was a first for this and for completing my first two bicycle tours – one to Fredericksburg, TX and another to Wimberley, TX (a full write-up of that adventure is coming soon). Other highlights included: A VIP ride with San Antonio …

… ten years of the red dog, my first 50k bike ride in the pouring rain, visiting with family in May and November, and participating in some new community activities (bike/ped task force, aids athens, POUR food drive, the senior farmer’s market nutrition program). … Semi-successful; I visited my brother in Houston once and my brother in Dallas twice, but didn’t make it to Colorado, mostly because I still don’t like to fly (I drove to Texas both times). …

Texas Routes | Austin’s boutique mountain bike shop for Titus …
from www.hammerheadbikes.com
I would be very interested in hearing what routes people have done in Texas that are off pavement.  I have only done the Big Bend area, but have a modified version of that in mind and also one that I am looking at in Sam Houston National Forest.  Sucks that Texas has so little public land.  Definitely makes it a challenge to find long routes that justify a loaded bike trip. …

Trail Musings and Other Thoughts: Reflection on a ride…
by Trail Steward
Glenn aka “Trail Rat”
Arlington, Texas, United States
Just a cranky old man (58) who loves to ride mountain and road bikes. My payback is that I am a trail steward at a popular mountain bike trail in Arlington Texas. I love the sport, and the people associated with it and the combination of those two keeps me young and competitive.
