About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Two Days into 2010

Texbiker.net Posted on January 4, 2010 by Rick AnkrumJanuary 4, 2010

I pressed hard to ride the first two days of 2010. My wimpy cut-off temperature of 60 degrees was never reached so I bundled up and hit the road with my Garmin Edge 305 recording my timid efforts. Friday was 25 miles and Saturday netted 20 miles. I have not set my goal for the month yet though. Goals are a motivation for me.

Apparently other people have issues riding in January since there are only a few organized rides during the month. I am eying the Jalapeno 100 in Harlingen on February 13th. This could be my opportunity to thaw out and still ride. I have seen a couple of fellow riders on the road. Later this week a major artic cold front is coming to southeast Texas so the riding will be limited.

Can you say “hello windtrainer?”

Dallas Fort Worth Bicycle Riders Beware: Bike Accidents Can Be Deadly :: Fort Worth Injury Lawyer Blog
New Year’s resolutions are oftern focused on improving one’s health through exercise. And riding a bike is a fantastic form of exercise. I personally love riding one of my bikes, even though I enjoy riding on a trail as opposed to a road for safety reasons. I do this as I know that bicycle accidents happen on a regular basis.
