About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

In the spirit of the holiday season, one local charity is giving away bicycles so that children across Texoma can have a good Christmas. DFW Point-to-Point: Elegance Counts Too
by Steve A
I first started riding to work in Texas back in 2004 (I moved here in 2003), using my road bike. It was a 19 mile commute to Dallas and I only did it a couple times of week, and only during the longest days of the year. … My favorite chapter is “So You Want to Buy a Bicycle!” It’s a window into a different time, when bicycles were more primitive, but more elegant at the same time. It predates mountain bikes. It’s why I still have a French bike in my garage that I bought …

Chris had originally planned the ride to be forty miles one way from Sanger to Muenster,Texas, but getting everybody and their gear back to the starting point was going to be a problem. Bike Ban | VeloNation Cycling News and Reference
Manor, Texas is an ideal place for cyclists. The town, located 15-miles east of Austin, is surrounded by lush farmland. It’s situated amongst gently rolling hills and riddled with smooth country roads. On my first serious bike ride as a freshman at the University of Texas in 1999, I ventured toward Manor.

Around that time the town was home to just over a 1,000 people. Locals stuck an entire arm out the window of their pickup to wave after passing. They waited patiently at the edge of the town’s single lane bridge for cyclists…

Darren White Journal: Dec. 21: Fort Worth

I’ve owned a bike since 2002. It’s a mountain bike I bought to ride the trails at Tyler State Park. My interest in mountain biking has waned since my early days of college, but I’ve held onto it, and for a time I still took the occasional … Since Fort Worth does not offer bike lanes, I would want to avoid major roads.
