Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Directions:           Exit Koomey/FM 1489 off I-10 West, One Mile South of I-10, Brookshire, Texas
Start Time:           8:00 AM, April 25, 2009
Routes:           19, 39, and 55 miles, and the shorter “Ring-A-Ding” Route for families
Fee:           Prior to April 1 – $30.00
After April 1 – $35.00
Day of Ride – $40.00
Packets:           Friday, April 24 – from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM at Spring Valley Bicycles, 9414 Gaylord,
one block south of I-10 between Bunker Hill and Echo Lane

Limited to 1500 riders. Rider packet includes t-shirt, 2 BBQ lunch tickets for you and your family (let them eat BBQ, shop, and enjoy the beautiful grounds while you ride), and a gift certificate to The Brookwood Community gift shop.

Three routes of 25, 47, and 67 miles featuring beautiful scenery and challenging hills make this perfect training for the BP MS150.  The 25 mile route travels through scenic farms and forests on lightly travelled backcountry roads.  The 47 and 67 mile routes go through part of the Sam Houston National Forest.  The 67 mile route also goes through the historic town of Anderson, where the hills get especially challenging.

Route maps will be available at the start. For those of you that would like to review the routes prior to the ride, we have posted the route maps.
$25.00 per person before 01/15/2010. $30.00 per person before 02/28/2010. $35.00 per person after 02/28/2010, including the day of the ride.

Pedal Thru the Pines – Bastrop, TX

The 8th Annual Pedal Thru The Pines hosted by the Family Crisis Center invites you to participate in a fun filled day that supports the Center’s vision of a safe community built on equality without the existence of violence. Cyclists will enjoy traversing the beautiful Loblolly Pines of Bastrop and Buescher State Parks and the surrounding country roads of Bastrop, Fayette and Lee counties. The routes provide a unique experience for cyclists of every level. Well stocked rest stops, friendly volunteers and a top notch veteran SAG Team add to the success of this must do event.
What:

* Beautiful Ride through Bastrop and Buescher State Parks.
* Distances of 16, 27, 50 or 65 miles.
* All routes have SAG support, rest stops with restrooms and refreshments.
* BP MS 150 Recommended Ride.
* Mechanical support at the start and at all rest stops.
* Ride Tips and FAQ – This can be a challenging ride for some, please read our Ride Tips and FAQ page describing the route and tips on riding and training.
The ride begins at Bastrop High School.

Fee: $35 until Feb 24th, $40 after Feb 24th
