Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

NovemberFest and NovemberFest Metric Century Bike Ride benefiting THE CENTER Serving Persons with Mental Retardation. This event is two-fold – a Family Festival and a non-competitive Bike Ride. The Family Festival from 10AM to 3PM is free and includes games for the kids, live entertainment, great BBQ and festival foods at reasonable prices, shopping and a silent and live auction. The bike ride is divided into 10 mile, 27 mile, 44 mile, 47 mile and 62 mile routes.

Individual Riders:

# 9:00 a.m. Start of 27, 44, 47, and 62 mile routes

The Wurst Ride in Texas (www.wurstride.com) is a metric century (100K/62.5 miles) bike ride to benefit the Bob Woodruff Foundation (www.remind.org).

Presented by the Austin5 Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, Tax ID # 26-0518382.

The ride will be held on November 7, 2009. Riders will be treated to a scenic view of rural Texas at the foot of the Texas Hill Country. There will be 5 rest stops between Austin and New Braunfels with refreshments for all participants. There will be a post ride party at the Comal County Fairgrounds with food and fun for everyone!

This ride is associated with the Texas Bicycle Coalition and $1 of each rider’s registration fee goes to support TBC Bicycle Safety Programs. Proceeds from the ride will benefit the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

The Tour de Donut is a unique bicycle race where riders embark on an appetizing 28-mile journey with rest stops along the way serving as many delectable donuts as you can eat. For EACH tasty donut consumed, the rider is awarded a tempting 5-minute time credit. Eat enough delicious donuts, and you can finish the race before you even started!

Instead of this mouth-watering challenge, riders can ride the 55-mile route shape up for the BP MS 150. This is a BP MS 150 recommended ride!
