Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

23rd Annual Autumn In Bonham & Bike Rally & Expo
Friday, September 25, 2009 – Saturday, September 26, 2009 local time
Fannin County Multi-Purpose Complex – 700 FM 87
Corner of HWY 56 & FM 87   Bonham, TX
Bring your whole family and join your cycling friends for a Bike Rally with a variety of routes to choose from. Come early and stay late for entertainment and fun-filled activities the entire family can enjoy. You will ride through delightful scenery with light motor traffic and NO freeway service roads. The 28, 44, and 54 mile routes start with several moderately rolling hills. The 54 mile route includes the infamous Leonard Hills – a series of challenging roller coaster hills with beautiful views at the crests. The 28-64 mile routes are not recommended for children 11 and under.

The Family Fun Road Ride is an easier 14 mile ride with a rest stop at the 5th mile. This ride is mostly flat terrain. Children 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Bicycle Racers from around the block, around the country and even around the world are
registering every day for The Texas Time Trials.
RACERS: Racers make the difference. Last year more than 125 Cyclists registered to
compete in The Texas Time Trials. Representing more than 20 states and 3 countries,
these athletes push their physical and mental skills, for a sense of pride that only comes
from the self accomplishment of achieving a lofty goal. A challenging 20-mile looped
course awaits outside of Cleburne, Texas. Choosing from 5 different length races,
cyclists will race each other as solo riders, members of a team, on a 2-person tandem bike
and even specialty bikes like recumbents!
The Texas Time Trials is 5 races in one; all ending with dramatic finishes at 6:00pm
Saturday, September.
1. The Tejas 500 is a 500 mile race with three different starting times. This race is
also a qualifier for the prestigious Race Across America (RAAM)!

Starts Thursday, 6:00 p.m. Starts Thursday, 12:00midnight starts Friday, 6:00am
2. The Texas 24-Hour Time Trial – Starts time Friday at 6:00 p.m.
3. The Texas 12-Hour Shoot-Out – Starts Saturday at 6:00 a.m.
4. The 6-Hour Challenge – Starts Saturday at 12:00 noon
5. The Texas 20 Mile Sprint – Starts Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

State Route 105 West   Montgomery, TX
Cycle through some of the most beautiful Texas landscape in Montgomery and Grimes Counties. The 24 mile route takes you past an exotic animal farm, while the 40, 62, and 100 mile routes take you through the Sam Houston National Forest. The 62 and 100 mile routes have hills, perfect training for the Bike to the Beach Bike Ride.
$ 25 if postmarked before September 1, 2009. Includes a T-shirt
$ 30 on or after September 1, 2009. Includes a T-shirt if received by September 10, 2009.

San Antonio Rd and Warren St   18 miles east of San Antonio, TX
$25 before 8/16/09; $30 thereafter

34, 53, and 65 miles plus a 10 mile Family Ride and a FREE .50 mile Kiddie Ride
The “trails” (yes, they’re paved road routes, Wrangler) take riders through the purdiest places and historic areas surrounding La Vernia — through St. Hedwig, New Berlin, Sutherland Springs  — through Wilson, Bexar and Guadalupe Counties.
