About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Mountain Bike Trail Donation Honors Justin Brindley

Texbiker.net Posted on January 26, 2009 by Rick AnkrumJanuary 26, 2009

A mountain bike trail planned at Sugar Land Memorial Park will honor Justin Petersen Brindley, a local outdoor enthusiast who died last year while rafting on the Colorado River.

During last week’s meeting, the Sugar Land City Council accepted a $55,000 donation from Brindley’s parents for the construction of a two-mile mountain bike trail south of University Boulevard and Commonwealth Boulevard near the Brazos River. This is the area where Brindley, a Clements High School graduate, spend much of his early life riding bikes and enjoying the outdoors.

Austin Bike Blog Posits: Dallas Bike Coordinator Gone?

Texbiker.net Posted on January 24, 2009 by Rick AnkrumJanuary 24, 2009

Kuddos to Dallas on finally moving forward on building bicycle infrastructure. This is especially great when you realize Dallas was rated one of the “Worst Cities For Cycling” by Bicycling Magazine and as Bike Friendly Oak Cliff has pointed out despite being the 9th largest city in the U.S., Dallas currently has 0 miles of bike lanes. (When Houston is kicking your butt on bike facilities, you know you’re bad.)

This is wonderful and a real step forward, so why the reference to the employment status of the Dallas Bicycle Coordinator in the title?
