About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Start 2009 Riding Your Bike

The Tradition Returns
For several years, new friends and old friends have been joining me for a nice bike ride in the country – with some black-eyed peas and cornbread for dessert. This year we are bringing back our same traditional ride and eat experience, with a bit of a twist or two.

Nearly Famous Fred Blogs About 2 LBS’s

Texbiker.net Posted on November 8, 2008 by Rick AnkrumNovember 8, 2008

Nearly Famous Fred rides in North Texas. In his post today he discusses his experience at two Dallas area bike shops. Service and customer attention caused him to spend his $10,000 to $15,000 over the last seven years at one shop rather than the other.

An excerpt from his blog post: “Over the next few posts, I would like to compare and contrast the type of service I have experienced, and offer my opinions based on those experiences, of the two largest bike shops here in the Dallas/Plano/McKinney area. For those of you not familiar with the area, the first shop would be Plano Cycling & Fitness. I’m not going to mention the second bike shop by name, because my opinion of them is somewhat less than that of Plano Cycling. But for our purposes here, we’ll refer to that bike shop as RBM, (wink, wink).”
