Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

18th Annual Texas Hell Week (2008) opened

The event is planned for 15-22 March, 2008 in Fredericksburg TX.New for 2008: several more new routes, some revived “old� routes, as well as an a la carte registration that allows riders to pick and choose their rider amenities. The basic packages for early-bird registrants (through 30th Sept 2007) are:

Bronze ($89): The basic entry, with no shirts

Silver ($101): Bronze + T-Shirt

Gold ($119): Silver + Sweatshirt + Socks

Platinum ($184): Gold + jersey

Prices go up $10 on 1st October 2007, and another $10 on 1st March 2008.

Sunday school buddies to ride HHH 100-mile race together

Texas Hall of Honor Coach and UIL Athletic Director Dr. Charles Breithaupt and three other members of his Sunday school class at the First Baptist Church of Georgetown, Texas, who are all over the age of 50, are challenging themselves to participate in the largest one-day endurance bicycle ride in the United States-the Hotter’N Hell Hundred in Wichita Falls.

‘Christmas in July’ is Held for Pediatric Patients at M.D. Anderson

A “Christmas in July” was held by the Cheniere’s Energy Making Cancer History Race Across America team in the Children’s Cancer Hospital at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer center.

The party was for pediatric patients and their families.

The Race Across American team raised more than $150,000 from a bicycle ride of 3,000 miles across the country as a fund raising event for the Children’s Cancer Hospital at M.D Anderson. In three years Race Across America has collected more than $350,000 in fund raising events
