About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

My Experience: The makers of Anti Monkey Butt sent me a review sample of their anti friction powder in the Original and Lady’s versions. I used the power on six rides totaling over 120 miles in lieu of chamois cream and as a post ride treatment for saddle sores for a week.

White Rock Lake hike and bike trail
Due to the apocalyptic, ring of fire like weather conditions we’ve had in  North Texas for the last few months I haven’t been on a long ride in ages.  The minute the weather cooled off I knew it was time to spend some serious time in the saddle so I took last Friday off and did just that.  I volunteered my buddy Dennis, who’s also…

Cyclists: Please pipe down!
by By Pam LeBlanc        Fit City
An email from a woman annoyed by disruptive cyclists caught my attention this week.

“In Northwest Austin, what could be a pleasant early Sunday morning on Heathrow Drive is ruined EVERY weekend by chatty bicyclists who aren’t aware that their voices boom for at least a hundred yards — yes, a hundred yards at least!” Carmen deGonsalvetz emailed me this week. “It’s as if they are yelling at a football game.”…

Americas Choice Home Loans Criterium – 9/10/2011
by Ken     Texas Racing Life
One of the favorite courses of Houston racers is the Bear Creek Crit course.  The 75 minute crit would be on this short course.  The course is pancake flat with huge sweeping turns that might as well be straight.  There is one big 120 degree corner, which can be taken extremely fast.

The race was very fast, averaging around 27-28 mph for the entire 75 minutes.  It is so hard to get a good breakaway going on this course, that people do not expect it when racers actually break off from…
