About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

After a week of not riding I was not sure – August 15th Bike Ride

Texbiker.net Posted on August 15, 2011 by Rick AnkrumAugust 15, 2011

After a week of not riding I was not sure if my body had recovered from the work I did during my mission trip so I decided to make today’s ride an easy one. This is reflected in the average speed of 14.3 mph and the max speed of 20.8 mph. My average cadence was an easy 76.2 RPM as well. I started later than I did the first week in August by about one hour but the temperature was not much different. With the near record of consecutive 100 degree days I sure did not want to wait until later in the day. When I started it was 87 degrees and 96 when I finished.

I did not notice any muscles complaining so tomorrow I will increase the pace some. I still remembered how to get into my clipless pedals and more importantly how to get out of them when I needed to. The schools are preparing to open next week so I may have to alter my start time next week.

The mileage for today was 23.85 miles. August miles are 244.29 and year to date miles are up to 3682.94.
