About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

After a rest day I was back riding this evening – June 15th Bike Ride

Texbiker.net Posted on June 15, 2011 by Rick AnkrumJune 15, 2011

After a rest day I was back riding this evening. While I was resting the high temperatures were not. While it is 99 degrees outside my office building is trying for a freeze. At noon I go outside to thaw out by walking around the building. For this evening’s ride the temperature was 97 when I left and 90 when I finished. Partly cloudy skies, humidity around 50% and wind from the south at 11 to 12 mph were what I had for riding conditions. No rain is in sight for many days and I am starting to see some wild fires when I am commuting to work and back. Maybe late next week rain will visit. I caught up with two bikers heading west on FM1960 over Lake Houston or what used to be a lake.

Today I rode 28.64 miles at a 15.3 mph average speed with a the max speed of 25.9 mph. Average cadence was 80.9 rpm. For June the mileage looks lkie this:

  • June 344.41
  • This week to date 57.51
  • Year to date 2522.12
