About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Tour de Cure | From the Inside Out
by Laura P
After work on Friday, Gary and I traveled to Ft. Worth to begin our “Tour de Cure” weekend. Tour de Cure is a series of cycling events held in 43 states nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Association. The North Texas cycling event was being held this year at the Texas Motor Speedway. We decided to spend the night nearby at the Marriott Hotel & Golf Club at Champions Circle so we wouldn’t have a long drive early in the morning. Tour de Cure registration…

THE VENUE and this RACE IS LIKE NO OTHER IN TEXAS!

The course is a 33 mile loop of scenic paved roads completely closed to traffic.  There are challenging climbs and descents.  The course is entirely on Fort Hood, a US Army military base, and as such, all participants may be required to sign a military event participation waiver and are subject to military rules and regulations.  Free-range wild cattle live in the area of the event and may present themselves on the course without warning.  This will be like no other Texas racing experience.

We will have a limited amount of TRP winter clothing (vests, jackets, knee warmers, knickers for sale on site) just in case you forget yours.

Saturday morning we will again have the National Anthem just before the P1 start, please be aware and give the proper respect.

The flyer contains much, detailed, information on subjects such as:

* Championship eligibility requirements
* Promoter supplied Jersey requirements
* Special Junior 10 – 12, 13 – 14 Starting locations and instructions
* Our special Open Race for those who want to ride this incredible course

Please download and read the entire flyer

The course for this year’s Little River Challenge is on open roads with very little traffic. The course will consist of a 12-mile loop that will be repeated multiple times as dictated by the distance of each particular race. The Start/Finish line will be in front of the Margaret Daniel Primary School which will allow for a large parking lot and easy access to restrooms and post-race refreshments.
