About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

A Wet, Short July 3rd Bike Ride

Texbiker.net Posted on July 3, 2010 by Rick AnkrumJuly 3, 2010

Around here July has this reputation of being hot and dry. Well the first three days of the month are not building on this reputation. If it does not straighten out shortly July is going to need some strong public relations person to put a spin on this stuff.

I tried to get a ride in this afternoon and I did get started but about 3.33 miles in I got caught by a rain cloud. The hope was this would blow over quickly like the rain earlier i the day but it just kept hanging on so I ended up riding back home in the rain.

So much for today. My plan for tomorrow is to get up early and leave home about 6:00 AM before the rain has a chance to know I am out there riding.

Today’s ride numbers:

  • 6.18 miles
  • riding time 0:31:25
  • YTD miles = 2572.83

Earlier today Kingwood had the July Fourth parade. Here are a few pictures:

What is a parade without kids on bikes?
