About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Called On Account of Rain, April 18th Bike Ride

Texbiker.net Posted on April 18, 2010 by Rick AnkrumApril 18, 2010

I was not expecting to ride today with the weather forecast at 70% chance of rain but when I got home from church the rain had not arrived yet and the radar showed the rain to be several counties to the west and moving slowly. So I headed out on a shorter route than I could have taken but it was not short enough. At the 4 mile mark the rain caught up with e and I stopped at a school to wait it out. After 10 minutes or so it looked like the rain had passed but when I talked to my wife it was raining where she was. With a little reluctance I called for a pickup go back home. As we drove towards home the rain was stronger than where I was stopped. I do not relish riding in the rain so this was a good ending. I suspect the BP MS150 riders had to deal with the rain as well.

Today’s ride statistics:

  • miles = 14.23
  • riding time = 0:57:25
  • average pace = 4:02 min/mile
  • average speed = 14.9
  • max speed = 20.6
  • average cadence = 80.6 rpm
  • max cadence = 104 rpm
  • climb 79 ft., descend 91 ft.
  • April miles 348.7
  • YTD miles 1235.46
