About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Bike Through the Forest and the Hills Ride

Texbiker.net Posted on February 6, 2010 by Rick AnkrumFebruary 7, 2010

Last Saturday (January 31st) this ride took place in Coldspring, TX. The temperatures were brutal and the wind added to the pain. I did not go but these photos show a number of riders braved the weather. Note the number of  blankets. These pictures are from the Bike Through the Forest and the Hills website.

No Windtrainer Today, Road Ride

Texbiker.net Posted on February 6, 2010 by Rick AnkrumFebruary 6, 2010

I didn’t make the Puddle for the Ducks ride this morning. The temperature was 39 degrees and the start time was so early, 7:00 AM. As it turns out there was construction closures on several freeways also which I did not realize. So I decided to ride in my area. 31.10 miles in 2 hours and 8 minutes. The temperature was 64 degrees with sunny skies and a light 8 mph wind. Since I did not start until 2:20 PM I did not see any other riders.

Route map and charts for today.

The Accidental Cyclist: Zentriathlon Base Camp 2009: My View
by Dawn
He’d never ridden in central Texas before past cows or horses while I can barely imagine riding in Malibu. Rich emits solid calm strength. He is a wonderful riding. I hope I get to ride with him again. …. The road bike: a most beauteous Bianchi Dama Elle. The Mountain bike: a Schwinn hardtail I picked up for $30.00. I recently attended a triathlon base training camp and this is motivating lifestyle changes. Happy, single, red-headed, dharma friend sharing my home with a …
