About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Gravel Grinder News: Race Discussion: January Events
by Guitar Ted
Red River Riot, St Jo Texas, January 23rd: This event, in its first year is looking at doing a little more than 100 miles as a “challenge ride”. In fact, the site specifically says it isn’t a race, but says a clock will be running for those so inclined.

So, you want to improve conditions for bicycling where you live? You want more respect from motorist while on the road?

If you answered yes to either question, you should be thinking about getting organized – just as farmers, lawyers, and hunters have done to promote their interests. Why not bicyclists?

Cycling friends have told me that not finishing a race due to a mechanical problem is not my fault; at least I showed up. But the effort it takes to show up plus the mix of jitters and excitement is a potent high not easily come off of. I showed up 45 minutes early to the racecar track near San Marcos for what was only my second bike competition ever. It was 45 degrees, …

What is it that makes Portland more appealing for you to bicycle in, over Dallas?
