Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Hotter ‘N Hell Hundred – Wichita Falls, TX

Hotter ‘N Hell Hundred and the cycling community of America can look forward to continued innovation in 2009, GPS mapping, and changes to Hell’s Gate. Riders and racers from all over the USA will celebrate the 28th annual Hotter ‘N Hell Hundred on Aug. 29, 2009. Hotter ‘N Hell Hundred will continue to excite record numbers of participants and add to their fitness experience.   The Hotter ‘N Hell Hundred is one of the oldest and largest cycling events in the nation. Fitness oriented riders and bicycle racers will come to Wichita Falls, Texas, from virtually every state and several foreign countries. They will set their calendars for the week of Aug. 27 – Aug. 30, 2008.  The official ride start will be approximately 7:00 a.m. (official sun rise) on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009. The Endurance ride is Saturday Aug. 29,2009 with USA Cycling racing on Friday and Saturday. The HHH will continue to offer an off-road mountain bike race on Friday August 28, 2009 and a trail run on Sunday August 30, 2009 as well.  By the way, the HHH is always 9 days before Labor Day.

Route distances are:
10K – 25 mile – 50 mile – 100K  – 100 mile

Cotton Patch Challenge – Greenville, TX

Greenville’s newly streetscaped and revitalized downtown is the perfect backdrop for the latest annual event that provides plenty of fun and entertainment for the entire family.

While you participate in a first class bicycle tour, the rest of the family can enjoy a variety of music, food, kids activities, a Classic Car Show, BBQ cook-off and Railfest at the Old Katy Depot (featuring a swap meet and free admission to the Railroad Museum). Come early to see all that Greenville has to offer, including Galleries, Antique Forums, Historical Sites and the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum.Stay and enjoy a concert from the Kenneth Treadgill Series at the historic Downtown Greenville Municipal Auditorium.
Greenville’s wide selection of Hotels and Motels and numberous restaurants offers something for every budget and taste.
We will also be hosting a Texas Cup, USCF Race and Time Trial on Saturday and a Criterium on Sunday.

Cowtown Classic – Fort Worth, TX

The 2009 Cowtown Classic Bicycle Ride is scheduled for 8:00 AM on Saturday, September 12, 2009. The start/finish line will be at  the south-side of North Crowley High School, 9100 S. Hulen Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76123 (MAPSCO 103T).

Special Note: Indoor shower facilities are available at the finish location, however riders must supply their own towels!

Distances: 62, 40 and 20 miles
