About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Mt. Locke Race, Fort Davis, Texas September 18, 2020

Roy and Christine | roy-pedalpushers.blogspot.com

Mt. Locke is a 7 mile category 3 race held each year in conjunction with the Fort Davis Cyclefest. However, this year the event was cancelled, but a bunch of people were determined to ride and do their own thing.

Such was Brian and myself. We decided that we would “race” up Mt. Locke on Friday afternoon and then ride The Scenic Loop on Saturday. Some background: I have ridden my Giant ebike for the past three years and have finished first each time, although I declare my bike and …

Bike to Work (or Anywhere) Week RESCHEDULED!

Houston-Galveston Area Council

As we gear up for Bike to Work (or Anywhere) Week, the safety of our bicyclists is of the utmost importance. Tropical Storm Beta is expected to make landfall this evening, Monday, September 21, 2020, so all festivities have been rescheduled for the week of September 28. Please visit our website and social media platforms (linked below) for the latest information on Bike to Work (or Anywhere) Week! In the meanwhile, please take the necessary precautions when bicycling:

Wear a helmet Dress in bright colors Inspect your equipment. Ensure that chains are correctly lubed and working properly Add reflectors to your bicycle Consider putting fenders on your bicycle to decrease the amount of water and dirt from splashing you on the road Be mindful of slippery surfaces in the rain Reduce your speed. Bicycle brakes might not function at full capacity while wet Watch out for debris, glass, or nails that may be lying beneath puddles of water

For more resources on bicycling, Commute Solutions Month, or Bike to Work (or Anywhere) Week, please visit yourcommutesolution.org.

Frisco, TX What we’re about

Welcome to The Pokey Pedalers!

We are a N. Texas based bicycling group focused on all kinda so riding – gravel, road, trails, adventure, and more.

However, we are first and foremost a group that is focused on casual, social fun while riding and we are not going to be taking ourselves too seriously. ALL SKILL LEVELS and ALL KINDS OF BICYCLES are WELCOME!

We’d like to do a variety of riding from paved trails, to gravel, to street and other kinds of riding – but always focused on social fun.
