About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

How to hydrate properly during the Hotter ‘n Hell, Texas bicycle race!
The Wheel Brothers – Cycling in Texas
This is one of the hottest summers on record in ‘recent’ Texas history and you need to prepare well for Saturday’s Hotter ‘n Hell bicycle ride. Last year Brad our team Doctor (Okay, so he is a Doctor that happens to be a Wheelbrother) wrote a great guide on how to properly hydrate for the race. I’m republishing it this week since…

The weather in Wichita Falls looks like it will be a hot one unlike the last two years. I am not sure what the turnout will be but if the past is any indicator there could be over 13,000 riders. I will be there (look for my Texbiker.net red, white and blue jersey). I plan on riding the 75 mile route (100 mile route but I will take the Hell’s Gate in Burkburnett through Sheppard Air Force Base). The turn at Burkburnett always seems to be into a strong headwind just when you are tried from the 60 miles up to that point. There is a road side rest stop on I-44 southbound with a few trees that always has a bunch of riders trying to recover. If you like it hot this year is the the ride for you.
