About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Red River Riot – Red River Valley, TX

Texbiker.net Posted on February 8, 2011 by Rick AnkrumFebruary 8, 2011

Red River Riot
Presented by The Spinistry
Red River Valley, TX
Saturday, April 23, 2011
Online Registration Closes Friday, April 22, 2011 at 8:00 AM ET
The 2011 Red River Riot will be a grass roots ride this time around with the focus being the best and most challenging route possible. This is not an official “event” so don’t look for prizes, sag support, portapots or schwag.

We’re going to give you a great route to follow that will cover at least 100 miles of dirt roads in North Texas. We’ll coordinate a meet up spot and time and provide directions for everyone to find their way from Point A to Point Z. There is no entry fee but donations will be accepted to cover the overhead for signage/maps/etc.

The long route will be around 120 miles
The short route will be around 60 miles
We may offer a mini route of around 30 miles if there is any interest

Most current information will most likely be on the Spinistry Facebook page or on Spinistry.com. See you there!

Alsatian Country III Criterium Men’s P/1/2
from Texas Racing Life by Ken
I watched this race from the sidelines, and it proved very confusing to watch as there were many breaks commingling and lapping many different groups.  The hero and eventual winner of the race was David Wenger, of SuperSquadra.  He bridged up to the front group about halfway through the race, and then helped that group lap the main field.  After that, he attacked to bridge to a second breakaway, which was ahead, to win the race by staying away from the lapped field and front group.
