About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Race  Report – Horse Country Time Trials « Texas Tailwind
by Ben
Last weekend I rode in the Horse Country Time Trials in Aubrey, TX.  This is a 20K TT series that runs 3 or 4 times a year. This was my first time on this course and only my 3rd time trial ever (the other two being the 39.5K TT in Mineral Wells last summer and the 6 hour Texas Time Trials in Sept.).

I rode my Kuota K-Factor with Flashpoint FP60 wheels. My rear Flashpoint…

Sparkling Teeth Are In The House, May 18th Bike Ride

Texbiker.net Posted on May 18, 2010 by Rick AnkrumMay 18, 2010

Today was my semi-annual visit to the dentist to get the chompers shining. After getting that done I was able to get an earlier start on the evening bike ride. Mostly cloudy skies, 88 degrees and a 12 mph SE wind greeted me as I started off. I have been looking for some Diadora shoes to replace the Shimano R075 ones I have been riding in for the last year and a half. For some reason the left shoe is tighter than the right one and the side has split a little. I think this might be the result of the crash I had at the Hotter’n Hell Hundred. Also the tongue on the right shoe does not stay centered so I had to sew it in place. When things need to be symmetrical these bug me. This week I plan on riding 4 days in a row to make up for missing last Saturday due to the rain. We will see if the weather will cooperate.

Today’s riding statistics:

  • miles 23.07
  • riding time = 1:32:05
  • average pace = 4:00 min/mile
  • average speed = 15.0 mph
  • max speed = 20.8 mph
  • average cadence = 80.8 rpm
  • max cadence = 103 rpm
  • climb 170 ft., descend 172 ft., max elevation 100 ft.
  • May miles 359.64
  • YTD miles 1759.44

FtW Cycling and stuff: A Sunday Morning Ride
by rab
Headed out about 7:45 a.m. Peeked outside, saw some sunlight mixed with clouds. Decided to glance at the local radar just to be safe since t-storms were forecast.
I like wunderground.com. Click a bookmarked link for the local FW weather page which includes a small radar shot. You click on it for the full screen/options etc.
Nothing showing. Good. Head out.

Looks pretty dark to the west. maybe just fog from all of the rain the past few days? Exaggerated by the sunrise in the east? Less than a mile down the Trinity Trail…
